Full detailsLake Muskoka is the largest of the three main Muskoka lakes. We pick up from any dock on the water, east or west shore, and store at our private facility for the winter.
Lake Muskoka stretches nearly 27 kilometres from the Bracebridge outflow in the east to the Port Carling locks in the west. It's the southernmost of the Big Three lakes, easily the widest open water in the region, and home to some of the most recognizable boathouses and cottages in Ontario.
We service the entire lake. The east shore near Bracebridge and Gravenhurst gets covered on the same runs as those towns, typically a 40-50 minute drive from our base. The west shore near Bala and the Port Carling access is on a separate run at about 55 minutes. When you reserve, tell us the name of your bay or closest township road and we fit you into the right schedule.
Lake Muskoka sees the widest variety of boats in the region. Classic wooden Muskoka launches built in the 1940s and 1950s sit in boathouses around the lake. Modern ski boats and wake boats run the open sections of the main basin. Pontoons and tritoons fill every second dock on the bays that branch off the main body. We've worked with all of them. Wooden boats need particular care during transport and wrap, which we account for at booking.
The lake's size means the open sections stay navigable later into the fall than the bays. We schedule dock pickups from the exposed sections of Lake Muskoka into early November when conditions allow. Ice forms in the sheltered bays first, so if your dock is in a protected bay, plan for an October date. The open basin can run into early November but we confirm based on actual conditions each year.
Spring returns to Lake Muskoka go from late April through mid-May. Ice-out on the main basin is usually a week behind the smaller lakes to the north.
