How much does outdoor boat storage cost in Muskoka?
In Muskoka, outdoor storage prices depend almost entirely on boat length. Longer boats take more linear footage of the lot, require heavier cribbing, and are harder to maneuver. The table below shows the 2026/27 season pricing at Muskoka Storage.
| Boat Length | Storage Season (Oct – May) |
|---|---|
| Under 18 ft | $450 |
| 18 to 22 ft | $650 |
| 22 to 26 ft | $850 |
| 26 to 30 ft | $1,050 |
| 30 ft and over | $1,300 |
These prices cover the storage period only. Shrink wrapping, pickup, and spring commissioning are priced separately.
What does shrink wrapping cost on top of storage?
In Muskoka, shrink wrap is almost always the right call for outdoor winter storage. Professional marine shrink wrap costs between $250 and $750 at Muskoka Storage, depending on boat size. The wrap includes a central support frame (to prevent snow pooling), a ventilation strap, and heat-shrinking by a trained technician. The price covers materials and labour.
Most cottagers book storage and shrink wrap together. The two services can also be booked separately if you already have a cover arrangement or plan to haul the boat yourself.
Are there pickup and delivery fees?
Yes. Pickup from your dock, driveway, or marina is priced by zone. In Muskoka, three zones apply based on distance from Huntsville.
| Zone | Distance from Huntsville | Pickup (one way) |
|---|---|---|
| Zone 1 | Under 20 km | From $150 |
| Zone 2 | 21 to 40 km | From $250 |
| Zone 3 | 41 to 60 km | From $350 |
Spring dropoff to your dock or driveway is priced the same way. If you book both fall pickup and spring return, each leg is invoiced separately. See the full pickup and dropoff service guide for details on how the service works.
Why do prices vary between storage facilities?
In Muskoka, price differences between storage operators come down to four factors: whether the facility is insured (and how much), whether it is properly zoned for commercial boat storage, whether the lot is fenced and monitored, and whether pickup is included or extra. Facilities that advertise very low rates often offset costs by skipping bailee's insurance, storing on agricultural land, or leaving boats unmonitored through winter. Muskoka Storage carries $5M commercial general liability and bailee's coverage, operates on correctly zoned land, and monitors the site continuously.
Is there a deposit required?
Muskoka Storage collects a $250 deposit to hold your spot. The remainder is due at pickup in October. No deposit is taken until your space is confirmed in writing. We do not take payment until the shareholders agreement is in place and insurance is bound. See our FAQ for more on the booking process.
Are there discounts for early booking?
Yes. Cottagers who confirm and deposit before September 1 receive a credit toward their shrink wrap service. Early booking matters for us operationally: we schedule pickup routes weeks in advance and need to know the fleet size by late August. Book early and the credit shows on your invoice at pickup time. Full early-booking details are on the Pricing page.
What is not included in the storage price?
The base storage price does not include:
- Shrink wrap or canvas cover
- Pickup from or delivery to your dock or driveway
- Engine winterization (flushing, fogging, antifreeze treatment)
- Battery removal or trickle charging
- Trailer storage (add-on, priced separately)

All of these services are available as add-ons. See the Services page for the full list and what each includes.
