Dorset and the eastern Lake of Bays.

Lake of Bays is one of the larger lakes in Muskoka and it runs a long way east. Dorset is the village at the far end of that run, reached by Hwy 35 from the south or Hwy 60 from the west.

Cottagers on the east arm of Lake of Bays have traditionally stored boats wherever they could find space, often far from home. We're the first dedicated storage operation built to service this corner of the lake. Our drive from Huntsville runs about 55 minutes along routes we can do with a full trailer without incident. Fall scheduling for Dorset customers opens first in October, before the roads get busy with Algonquin Park traffic winding down.

The east arm attracts a mix of boats. Larger cruisers from the Dorset-area estates sit alongside aluminum fishing boats that run the channel to Kawagama. Pontoons are common for families who use the boat as a social platform all summer. We've worked with all three and the shrink wrap calibration is different for each. Low-slung pontoon decks need a different frame structure than a high-sided cruiser, and we build the frame before the film goes on every time.

If your boat lives at a marina on the east arm, ask about our marina pickup run. We coordinate dock pickups in the Dorset area on Tuesdays and Thursdays during peak haul-out weeks in October. Spring returns to the Dorset area run from late April through mid-May. Ice-out on the east arm tends to follow the west by a few days given the depth at that end. We monitor ice conditions and contact you when the date is confirmed.
